Glenfinnan is located at the head of Loch Shiel and is the place where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised the standard at the start of the Jacobite rebellion.
The West Highland Railway and one of Scotland's most famous tourist attractions 'the Jacobite express', a steam hauled train that runs from Fort William to the coastal village of Mallaig is familiar to Harry Potter fans as it was used in the films as the Hogwart express.
The 21-arch single track Glenfinnan viaduct was the largest engineering undertakings using concrete without reinforcing when it was built by Sir Robert McAlpine  between 1897 and 1901, it is 416 yards long and is curved leading the track round the head of the River Finnan valley.
